Summary of the News: In January 2018, Nazara first acquired a majority stake in Nextwave, and in May 2023, it further increased its shareholding to 71.88%. Earlier this year, Nazara completed the acquisition of the remaining 28.12% stake in Nextwave for INR 21.6 crore. Nextwave’s acquisition encompasses the complete spectrum of intellectual property rights associated with the UTP game, encompassing software and related trademarks, from U Games. The transaction, valued at Rs 10 crores (100 million Indian Rupees), will be disbursed in cash by Nextwave to U Games in one or multiple installments. As per news reports, the acquisition of the Teen Patti IP will be executed via assignment from U Games Private Limited (subsidiary of Play Games24x7 Private Limited) Out of the ₹10 Crore sum ₹9 Crore has been disbursed, state the media reports.
